Following eight years with Titan Comics, ‘Tank Girl’ is set to switch publisher. Known for ‘The Goon’, Albatross have secured the rights to the girl with the tank.
Raucous comic book character, ‘Tank Girl’, is shifting publisher. Following an eight year stint at Titan Comics the tougher than old boots character will move over to US based Albatross Funnybooks.
Created by Jamie Hewlett and Alan Martin, Tank Girl first appeared in Deadline magazine in 1988. Since then the title has moved around various publishers including: DC Comics, Image Comics, Dark Horse, and IDW Publishing before finding a home UK based Titan Comics.
Alan Martin and Brett Parson are the current creative pairing behind the ‘Tank Girl’ franchise. They were looking for a new home for the title. With Parson having recently completed a run on ‘The Goon’, a window of opportunity was available to pitch a move for ‘Tank Girl’. The pair approached Albatross founder, Ian Powell.
Speaking to comicbook.com, Powell said: “…of course I was interested because it fits right in with everything we’ve been doing“. ‘Tank Girl’ will now line up alongside ‘The Goon’ and other titles on the Albatross rosta.
The first new book titled ‘King Tank Girl’ will debut later this year.
