After a long wait. Marvel’s Black Widow solo movie is finally coming to cinema screens this May.
A ‘Black Widow’ solo movie is long overdue with the Marvel Cinematic Universe having been dominated largely by male heroes. But this May, Scarlett Johansson will finally take the lead in a female-centric standalone movie from Marvel Studios, following in the footsteps of last year’s ‘Captain Marvel‘.
In this film the story will follow on from the events of ‘Captain America: Civil War‘. Natasha Romanoff must return home to face her past and confront a whole new threat.
Rachel Weisz and David Harbour also feature with the latter taking on the role of Alexei Shostakov aka Red Guardian. The Russian equivalent of Captain America. Cate Shortland directs.
‘Black Widow’ marks the first film in Marvel’s phase four of the MCU and makes up one of only two movies coming out this year. The second being ‘The Eternals’. The studio’s new lineup of television shows will fill out the rest of the phase.
In addition to a final trailer, there’s a striking new poster for the film too which will arrive in cinemas in the UK and North America from the 1st of May.
