When humanity comes under threat from an alien invasion, they start to recruit soldiers from the past
The Tomorrow War was originally set to be released on Christmas day of 2020. Because of the virus, it was pulled and then relocated onto July 23 of this year, but that date was pulled from the schedule not long after.
In April of this year it had been announced that Amazon had successfully bought the film where it will première on their Prime Video service later in the year.
Starring Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski and J. K. Simmons, the story is a seemingly simple one. In the future, an alien attack is threatening the very existence of humanity, and they are losing the war.
Humanity decides to open up time portals into the past and recruit people from there to help fight the war back in the future.
Okay, lets be honest about this film, I feel that the studios, in this case Paramount, are happy to sell their films to streaming services because it guarantees a certain amount of money.
I can’t shake off the feeling that the studio is happy with any profit they can make as they are not entirely happy with the film.
Normally, this kind of film would have me rubbing my hands together in excitement, sci-fi, action and time travel, all things that I love in a film, but this trailer doesn’t install me with much confidence.
We’ll all find if its any good when The Tomorrow War opens around the world on July 2nd to those with Amazon Prime.
