Disney+ is set to go behind the scenes on The Mandolorian and classic Disney films in two new shows.
The Mandalorian has been a big success for Disney+ with its first Star Wars based weekly television show. The show revolves around a Mandalorian bounty hunter who decides to protect a target he was initially meant to kill.
Disney+ is now offering viewers a chance to see how The Mandolorian was created with behind the scenes material and round table discussions with the actors, directors and other members of the crew.
I’ve already seen a few minutes of behind the scenes video that explains a technique developed for this show known as the video wall. Let me just say, most of the time, the show was never filmed on location, that’s how effective this technique is.
So, I’m personally looking forward to this new eight part show that will start streaming in weekly instalments. Disney Gallery: Star Wars – The Mandalorian will start streaming on Disney+ from May 4th.
Also coming to Disney+ is Prop Culture, hosted by film historian, Dan Lanigan. In this series, he will delve into the Disney archives to showcase some of the most iconic props and more from your favourite Disney films. Dan will also reunite former props with the stars that used them.
For example, as you can see by the trailer, Christopher Lloyd will be reunited with his Judge Doom costume from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Prop Culture will run for 8 episodes and cover such classic Disney films as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and The Nightmare Before Christmas, as well as Tron, The Muppet Movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Mary Poppins and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
Prop Culture will premiere on Disney+ where the entire season will be available to stream on May 1st.
