First Contact Film ‘Arrival’ Debuts Two New Trailers

With some pop culture outlets already suggesting that ‘Arrival’ is a potential Oscar candidate, you have two opportunities to work out if you agree.

“Why are they here?” is the question posed by the latest alien first contact movie ‘Arrival’ which stars Amy Adams (Man of Steel), Forrest Whitaker (Rogue One) and Jeremy Renner (The Avengers).

When twelve alien craft descend upon the Earth the U.S. government must call on the country’s foremost expert in linguistics. Dr. Louise Banks (Adams) leads her field and seems to be the only person capable of communicating with the Alien beings aboard the ships nicknamed ‘Shells’. With her efforts to decipher the visitor’s language consuming her it becomes apparent that the inhabitants of the planet Earth are running out of time to save humanity.

The film comes with not one, but two trailers today, each giving a slightly different feel but equally building tension in what looks likely to be an epic thriller with plenty of twists and turns.

‘Arrival’ appears to be gaining some healthy support with whispers of possible Oscar nominations floating around the internet soon after the short teaser dropped last week. The expectation building, no doubt, due to the pedigree of director Denis Villeneuve whose previous work includes the acclaimed ‘Sicario’.

‘Arrival’ makes first contact in cinemas this November.

Synopsis | When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks – are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
