Get Retro With These Wireless NES Controllers For The Nintendo Switch

If you want to get your retro fix of Nintendo games via the Switch, then these wireless NES style controllers could help make the experience more authentic.

Nintendo Switch Online is a new premium service launching on the 19th of September. Debuting on launch day will be twenty classic NES games. More will be regularly rolled out in time.

Included in the initial line-up will be Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda. You can find the full line up here.

In a bid to make the retro gaming experience a little more authentic, Nintendo have revealed Switch controllers modelled after those that came with the classic NES.

They differ in a number of ways though. Despite a resemblance to the classic two button controllers these versions are wireless. To charge you attach them to your docked Switch in the same way as you would with regular Joy-Cons. This does mean that the NES variants are blighted by an unsightly connection strip along the top.

Classic NES controllers come bundled in pairs and will be available to pre-order on the 19th of September, but only if you’re a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber.

Nintendo Switch Online plans start from as little as £3.49 a month. A three month subscription is only £6.99, whilst an annual package offers far greater value at £17.99.
