HBO’s Watchmen remixes Alan Moore’s classic graphic novel

HBO reveal a full trailer for Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen series at SDCC as the network seeks to fill the void left by Game of Thrones.

Where Zach Snyder’s 2009 adaptation of Watchmen was a – for the most part – faithful adaptation of Alan Moore’s classic graphic novel of the same name, Damon Lindelof’s new series is more of a remix.

The new series, made for HBO, introduces new heroes alongside others that will be more recognisable for fans of the source material. Rorscach and Dr. Manhattan make an appearance in this new trailer first shown at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Watchmen provides a continuation of Alan Moore’s acclaimed masterpiece in an alternate history where superheroes are outlawed as the world edges closer to doomsday.

Watchmen is scheduled to air on HBO in October.

About Watchmen | From Damon Lindelof and set in an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws, this drama series embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name while attempting to break new ground of its own. The cast includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk.
