Joss Whedon Is Ready To Reboot Buffy The Vampire Slayer

The hunt is on for a new lead as Buffy The Vampire Slayer readies for a reboot. Joss Whedon will exec produce.

From the mid-nineties and for seven seasons Sarah Michelle Gellar played Buffy Summers in the teen series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.

No matter how hard she tries to live a normal life, weird shit just keeps on happening to Buffy. Helped by a team of trusted friends the renowned Vampire Slayer would rally against dark forces on a weekly basis. Now the show is ready to return from the dead.

The show is once again being produced by Fox Television who had previously identified ‘Buffy’ as ripe for bringing back. But this would not happen unless series creator, Joss Whedon (Avengers, Firefly) was on-board. Good news! Whedon is well and truly behind the project and will act as executive producer whilst showrunning duties have been handed to Monica Owusu-Breen (Alias, Lost).

The hunt is now on for a new lead to play the titular character, and word on the street is that the production team are aiming to bring in a black actress as Buffy.

Whedon and Owusu-Breen are reported to have been working on a pilot episode since late 2017.

The new Buffy series has yet to find a home. But it’s likely that Amazon or Netflix are a target once the pilot is ready.
