Judge Dredd: Mega City One Is Coming To Television

Fans rejoice! A Judge Dredd television show is in development as ‘Judge Dredd: Mega City One’ is picked up by IM Global and Rebellion.

Starring Karl Urban, the distinctly low budget movie ‘Dredd’ amassed a substantial cult following back in 2012. When it became obvious that a sequel was not on the cards fans rallied behind the idea of turning the concept into a serialised television show.

Five years later and it looks like that very thing is about to happen. IM Global, a leading entertainment studio, and games developer and publisher, Rebellion, have struck a deal to begin developing ‘Judge Dredd: Mega City One’.

From the pages of british comic book 2000 AD Judge Dredd has become an enduring character unlike any other. As 2000 AD celebrate their 40th anniversary the prospect of a television show based on the character looks likely to prolong Dredd’s appeal and widen his fanbase.

Attached to the show are IM Global Television’s President, Mark Stern, who developed the Battlestar Galactica reboot, amongst other hit SyFy shows. IM Global’s CEO, Stuart Ford, also joins the project alongside Rebellion’s Jason and Chris Kingsley who were also executive producers on the ‘Dredd’ movie.

It looks very much like the show is in good hands and has every chance of meeting with fan’s expectations. Let’s hope the resulting show is picked up by a network.
