Kubo and the Two Strings is the fourth animated feature from Laika and comes with a star studded cast.
Known most recently for The Boxtrolls, featuring the vocal skills of Simon Pegg, Laika films have a new, magical offering coming in August 2016. Kubo and the Two Strings is a stop motion animation directed by Travis Knight.
Set in ancient Japan, the titular character, Kubo, a caring boy, has his life turned upside down when a spirit from the past re-ignites an age-old vendetta. The boy is on the run from gods, his only chance of survival rests on finding a suit of armour that once belonged to his father, the greatest samurai to ever live.
Kubo is voiced by Art Parkinson, better known as Rickon Stark in Game of Thrones who is joined by an impressive cast featuring Matthew McConaughey, Charlize Theron and Ralph Fiennes.
Kubo and the Two Strings looks likely to be a magical cinematic experience for adults and children alike. The film is due into U.S. cinemas on the 19th of August whilst the U.K. must wait until the 9th of September.
