LEGO announce the 1989 Batwing set on Batman Day

LEGO did not disappoint with this year’s Batman Day surprise. Their new set is a 2363 piece Batwing from Tim Burton’s 1989 movie.

We lost our minds when LEGO announced the 1989 Batmobile in November last year. At almost two feet long and comprised of 3306 pieces, the £219.00 set proved hugely popular. For this year’s Batman Day celebrations, LEGO must have figured out that we had money in our wallets again and dropped the news of their new Batwing set.

As a companion piece to the Batmobile, the Batwing is also based on one of the Dark Knight’s vehicles as seen in Tim Burton’s 1989 ‘Batman’ film.

The set comes complete with three minifigs. Though the Batman figure, based on Micheal Keaton’s portrayal, appears to be the same as that found in the Batmobile set, there is a variation of Jack Nicholson’s Joker. A third figure represents one of Joker’s henchmen.

As one might expect, the Batwing is packed with cool details including aerodynamic flaps and weapons. Like the Batmobile, this set is also a whopper measuring in at 52cm long and 58cm wide.

Consisting of 2363 bricks, LEGO’s new Batwing set costs £179.99 and is due for release on November 1st 2020. Keep an eye on lego.com for more information.
