In his directorial debut, Madness In The Method, Jason Mewes desperately wants to break free from his “Jay” stoner image.
Jason Mewes has had a turbulent life. Most will know him as Kevin Smith’s right-hand man appearing as Jay alongside Smith’s Silent Bob.
It’s also well known that Jason had a drug addiction problem in his early years which he successfully kicked to the kerb. However, it is this stoner image that he is trying to shake off in his directorial debut, Madness in the Method.
In his new film, Jason Mewes portrays himself and is frustrated at only being offered stoner roles for the films he auditions for.
As you can see from the trailer, Jason consults his best friend Kevin Smith who recommends he finds the book, Rob Weston’s Guide to Method Acting. Once he acquires the book however, his life will forever change.
The film stars Kevin Smith, Danny Trejo, Gina Carano, Jaime Camil, Vinnie Jones, Teri Hatcher, Brian O’Halloran, Dean Cain, Blake Harrison, Casper Van Dien, Judd Nelson and David Dastmalchian.
As Jason revealed at the Clerks Q&A at the MCM Comic Con London, he had been filming in both the US and in Northern England and features the last cameo from Marvel legend, Stan Lee.
Madness in the Method will release theatrically and digitally in the US on August 2nd.
