As the events industry struggles to survive the current global pandemic, ReedPop offer a glimmer of hope by scheduling MCM Comic Con for late 2021.
ReedPop are the company behind many of the world’s largest pop-culture events, including the UK’s touring convention, MCM Comic Con. Most years the event would travel to Scotland, Manchester as well as Spring and Autumn dates in London and Birmingham. For many fans of pop-culture, Comic Con is the social highlight of the year.
As the current global pandemic took hold of the nation throughout 2020, live events had to be cancelled. Moving into 2021 and the outlook is similarly bleak. But there is a glimmer of hope in the not too distant future. ReedPop have released their schedule of events for this year and, all being well, MCM Comic Con will return this Autumn.
Whilst Scotland and Manchester will not see a return of the convention this year, London and Birmingham have one event each to prepare for. The dates for your diary are:
MCM Comic Con – London: 22-24 October
MCM Comic Con – Birmingham: 13-14 November
These dates come with an obvious caveat. The events will only take place if safe to do so. Hopes are high as the UK has started rolling out a Covid-19 vaccination. Indeed, the ExCeL (Exhibition Centre London), where MCM London takes place, is currently being converted from an emergency ‘Nightingale’ hospital into a mass vaccination centre.
Ticketing news and Health & Safety advise will be published in due course. We’d have to expect the event to have strict limits on attendees and perhaps a smaller offering than previous years. But it’s something to look forward to.
Despite only being able to schedule two events for 2021, ReedPop are still dedicated to their virtual convention experience. New York Comic Con and MCM Comic Con combine online for a continual celebration of all things pop-culture. Visit findthemetaverse.com for more information.
