Morbius trailer suggests Spider-Man villains are teaming up

A new trailer for Morbius suggests there’s trouble on the horizon for Spider-Man and a possible appearance of the Sinister Six.

His portrayal of the Joker in the 2016 film ‘Suicide Squad‘ proved divisive with comic book movie fans. Now Jared Leto jumps from DC Comics to play a Marvel character in Sony Picture’s latest Spider-Man spin-off.

Following their recent success with ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming‘ and ‘Far From Home‘ in partnership with Marvel Studios, Sony have been cashing in on their rights to Spidey and his enemies.

We’ve already seen a Venom movie starring Tom Hardy. Now we see the origin story of another famous Spider-Man enemy in which Jared Leto will play Dr. Michael Morbius, aka Morbius.

There is a clear reference to Spider-Man in the film and an even more interesting final scene where Morbius is approached by Adrian Toomes aka Vulture (Played by Michael Keaton). Vulture appeared as the main antagonist in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, part of MCU canon.

These small details have lead fans to suspect that Sony are working up to a Sinister Six movie, which could eventually tie into the MCU. That said, Morbius has never featured in the Sinister Six in any iteration before, to the best of my knowledge.

About Morbius | One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
