Vans will release a bold five piece set of sneakers in collaboration with National Geographic. The collection is set to drop next month.
Five bold designs have been created for a new footwear collaboration between National Geographic and Vans. A varied approach has been taken for each of the silhouettes.
National Geographic covers a wide range of subjects from environmental issues, science, space exploration, history and the pursuit of adventure. Each documented in beautiful imagery via their print magazine and television output.
Using the contrasting colours of the National Geographic logo is classic ‘Sk8-Hi’ which comes with a black upper, white sole with yellow stripe and a large statement ‘National Geographic’ logo embroidered across the heel and extending to the sides.
The ‘Authentic’ addition to the collection pays tribute to National Geographic’s print origins with a patchwork print of past magazine covers.
Van’s ‘Era’ silhouette pays tribute to the ocean with an underwater print depicting sea life with longitude and latitude co-ordinates.
Pine Island Glacier in Greenland is the focus of Vans’ ‘Slip-On’ with an image of the source material across the top and the location printed on the outer sole.
Lastly is the ‘Old Skool’ which comes in a black and yellow colourway to match the National Geographic logo. On the outside is a print of the Mexican Grey Wolf whilst the inner depicts the Red-Eyed Tree Frog.
The National Geographic x Vans collaboration is due to drop on June 1st. Prices range from around $80 to $105. Visit vans.com to keep abreast of further information.
