Nintendo and LEGO tease Super Mario themed sets but details are scarce.
March 10th is Mario day (shorten the date – Mar10 – Mario!) and LEGO and Nintendo used this time to tease a new line of upcoming playsets.
This is the official announcement from LEGO which was shared on all the major social media platforms.

It should also be noted that UK videogame retailer almost spoiled the announcement by posting the following onto their website, it was however quickly deleted soon after.
What’s interesting to note here is the mention of the Nintendo Direct which of course never happened, or at least it hasn’t yet! For the uninitiated, a Nintendo Direct is when Nintendo releases an official video revealing their upcoming products.
But back to the announcement video, what are we getting? If that is the official minifigure of Mario with a display on his chest, will video games be linked somehow? Is there an associated video game or will it use augmented reality?
What we do know comes from the Danish LEGO fan site StoneWars.de. They reveal that this top-secret project has gone by the internal name ‘Leaf’.
Obviously nothing was shown to the public or retailers at the New York Toy Fair a short while ago, and apparently, only a select few major buyers have seen the sets.
Stone Wars have a listing that confirms there will be a total of 13 sets (which includes a blind bag) and that they will price between €3.99 and €99.99.
And that is basically all we know at this time! As soon as we have more information, we’ll be sure to let you know.
