Nintendo Consoles 1985 – 2017

The Switch may be the latest console on the block, but Nintendo have given us some real beauties over the years.

Whether you’re an old school 8-Bit or 16-Bit gamer, love a bit of Mario Kart, or prefer a multiplayer first person shooter, Nintendo have got your back.

Nintendo was formed a staggering 127 years ago in 1889 with the company producing hand-made playing cards. By the 1960s Nintendo had moved into the toy market developing a videogame division by the ’70s.

In 1985 the company cemented their place in gaming history with the launch of the NES (Famicom in Japan) and an iconic gaming figurehead was born in the unlikely form of an Italian plumber named Mario.

Join us for a super quick look at Nintendo’s key console launches over the last 32 years (Virtual Boy deliberately excluded).

The  gaming giants have just launched their latest flagship console, the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch. The Switch combines many of the best attributes of Nintendo’s gaming systems over the years.
