The Kingsman film franchise receives a prequel origin story. This is The King’s Man.
Kingsman: The Secret Service released in 2014, told the story of Gary “Eggsy” Unwin, a young delinquent who thanks to a family friend, Harry Hart, becomes part of a top-secret spy organisation.
A sequel followed in 2017 entitled Kingsman: The Golden Circle. In this follow-up, Gary must join forces with their American counterparts, the Statesmen, to defeat the enemy.
The director of the two Kingsman films, Matthew Vaughn, has returned with a third entry to be released next year, however, this story will tell the origins of the secret Kingsman organisation. (A second sequel to the first film will apparently go before the cameras next year.)
The official synopsis simply states, “As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them.” Obviously from the trailer, the film will take place in the early 20th century.
The King’s Man will open worldwide next year in February 2020.
