Our First Look At Bumblebee’s Own Prequel Film

It’s back to the eighties with this spin-off prequel film centring around just one Transformer, Bumblebee

You have to admit two things whenever discussing the current status of the Transformers franchise. Firstly, you can’t deny that they’ve made Paramount a shed load of money. Secondly, the series didn’t exactly start on a high and the series quality has been dropping off ever since.

Director Michael Bay has created five loud, flashy and fast cut films that at times can be hard to follow, both due to plot reasons and his use of quick camera work.

Enter Travis Knight, a director with an animation background with such films under his belt as CoralineParaNormanThe Boxtrolls and Kubo and the Two Strings. He’s been hired to direct this spin-off from the Transformers universe, Bumblebee.

The story is set in 1987 and follows a girl, Charlie Watson, who discovers the robot, disguised as the infamous Volkswagon Beetle, in a California beach town junkyard.

This first trailer is definitely giving off a different vibe, a film that will be very different to what has come before. I, for one, am very curious about it.
