There are two new pairs of sneakers and a wider range of apparel available from Sonic the Hedgehog x PUMA.
Just like the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer, Puma’s first attempt at a Sonic crossover sneaker was pretty awful. Almost two years ago the sports brand revealed their Sonic x Puma RS-O silhouette with a fluffy blue finish. Whilst the special edition footwear paid tribute to the blue blur and the Green Hill Zone, the final product just wasn’t right.
Following a wholly negative reaction by fans to the Sonic movie’s redesign of the titular character, the filmmakers took the bold move of delaying the film by three months to fix the problem. Perhaps this has given Puma more time to work on some new additions to their Sonic range.
New out are two new colourways based on the Puma RS-X3 silhouette. The first is a much fresher take on things. A pastel blue, yellow, white and grey palette with contrasting stitching on the side is classy. The shoes feature text reminiscent of the game which shows a score, time and number of rings collected. On the heel are three gold rings. A touch of red on the sole contrasts the otherwise neutral tones.
A companion shoe shares the same design and styling, albeit it in a more prominent colourway. Reds, dark grey/black and plum tones are contrasted by a lime green sole and stitching. Each pair is available from puma.co.uk and will cost £106.00.
In addition to the two new pairs of sneakers, Puma have added a wider range of apparel to the range available in adult and junior sizes.
