SpongeBob X Timberland collaboration drops this Friday

SpongeBob X Timberland collaboration drops this Friday

Timberland – purveyors of chunky work style boots favoured by R&B artists of the mid to late nineties – have teamed up with SpongeBob for the cartoon’s 20th anniversary.

Following in the footsteps of Nike’s recent SpongeBob range, Timberland are dropping two heavily themed pairs of boots this Friday.

SpongeBob Squarepants celebrated its 20th anniversary in July this year with an hour long special episode. Extending the frivolity further, this collaboration between Timberland and the zany cartoon is pretty out there.

Two boot designs will be available, a slightly more reserved black pair, and a vivid blue colourway. Each version is laden with nods to the cartoon and its characters.

SpongeBob himself takes centre stage on the Black option with the famous sponge taking up the whole tongue. Equally yellow laces add to to the contrasting effect. Each boot is adorned with cute touches and smaller images of other characters found in the show.

Timberland’s blue SpongeBob boots are far less subtle in their approach. Firstly, they’re very blue, to represent the sea, obviously. Then you’ll find the titular character poking his head over the side of the shoes. Again, smaller depictions of characters can be found as well as some nice SpongeBob detailing on the tongues.

Both pairs of SpongeBob x Timberland boots will be available from Friday 13th September having already sold out in a limited run on the Nordstrom website earlier in the year.
