Adidas are adding to their Star Wars range of footwear. Based on the ‘Top Ten Hi’ silhouette comes a gold C-3PO model.
An old school droid, fittingly, gets an old school sneaker tribute. Adidas are releasing a version of their ‘Top Ten Hi’ hi-top sneakers in a gold colourway. The shoe is the latest addition to their growing range.
White soles, laces and black accents finish the look that borrows it’s style from Star Wars’ stuffy protocol droid. An embroidered image of C-3PO features on the tongue tabs whilst the laces come with gold tags. STAR on the right shoe, WARS on the left.
The heritage of the Adidas ‘Top Ten Hi’ doesn’t reach quite as far back into history as Star Wars. The notable sci-fi saga premiered in cinemas in May 1977. Adidas created the Top Ten Hi two years later in 1979. As the name implies, the shoe was created as a premium, professional basketball shoe intended for the top ten players of the time.
Such was the success of the ‘Top Ten Hi’ that it soon became a fashion statement off the court too. Whilst the shoe went out of production briefly, Adidas brought it back in 2014. like C-3PO, the classic shoe remains an ever-present.
