Superpowers in drug form. Project Power stars Jamie Foxx

‘Project Power’ is a new film heading to Netflix. A new pill unlocks superpowers, the effects are unique to each person. A cop decides it’s time to fight power with power.

Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dominique Fishback star in ‘Project Power’, a new film heading to Netflix this August. Set on the streets of New Orleans a rise in crime is attributed to a new drug. The pill has a unique effect on each person that takes it. Some develop super strength or invisibility, for others it’s far more deadly.

Concluding that the only way to level the playing field with criminals gifted with extraordinary abilities a street cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams up with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier with his own agenda (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power.

The concept behind ‘Project Power’ bears more than a passing similarity to ‘MPH‘, a 2014 comic book mini-series written by Mark Millar. Indeed, Netflix acquired the writer’s comics label, Millarworld, in 2017, opening up the potential for television adaptations. As it happens, ‘Project Power’ is written by Mattson Tomlin who has also co-written ‘The Batman’ alongside Matt Reeves

About Project Power | On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.
