The Boys TV series is a graphic, gritty affair | Official Trailer

The Boys is coming to Amazon Prime in July but this is no standard superhero fare. This official trailer gives a sense of what to expect.

Back in May fellow The Unheard Nerd writer, John, and I had the privilege of watching the first episode of Amazon Prime’s new anti-hero show, ‘The Boys’. What we saw embodies the very antithesis of your average superhero show. An abundance of graphic violence, blood and innards everywhere, hard language and scenes of a sexual nature.

‘The Seven’, a super group of heroes, are seemingly untouchable. Loved by the public their holier than thou image hides a whole host of indiscretion. Not everyone buys into the whole superhero bullshit though and a war is waged to expose ‘The Seven’ for what they really represent.

This official trailer certainly alludes to the graphic and violent nature of the show. Karl Urban’s British accent may be a questionable, and wholly unconvincing choice, that aside casting for the show is solid.

About The Boys | Supes have been committing atrocities, which keep getting swept under the rug because they are revered by the adoring public. Billy Butcher recruits The Boys who have all been wronged by The Seven, the world’s most notorious superheroes, to bring them down and stop the corruption. Based on the best-selling comics by Garth Ennis, The Boys is a revenge story where the nobodies take on the somebodies.
