A prequel to the 1982 film, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is coming to Netflix in August. New images are creepy and beautiful.

New stills from Netflix’s forthcoming Dark Crystal prequel have been released along with a release date for the show.

Titled ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’, the show from the global streaming service is a prequel set many years prior to Jim Henson’s 1982 classic movie. Viewers will be taken back to the fictional world of Thra for an all new adventure.

Production began in 2017, which seems a long time until ago until you consider the scope of the job. Characters are brought to life through puppetry as they would have been in Henson’s movie as the show’s creators resist the urge to employ modern CGI techniques.

‘Age of Resistance’ will tell a life-altering story following the adventures of three Gelfling named Rian, Brea, and Deet. Bringing these, and many other characters to life is a truly impressive cast of voice actors.

Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel will voice the three protagonists whilst Simon Pegg, Helena Bonham Carter, Alicia Vikander, Natalie Dormer and Eddie Izzard all form part of the star studded line-up. For the full cast list check IMDb.

‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ will debut on Netflix this August 30th.
