The subterranean creatures known as Graboids return to frustrate Burt Gummer once again in Tremors 6!
I’ve loved the Tremors franchise ever since I caught a showing of the original film starring Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward late one Saturday night on television.
Whilst not a huge box office success, the franchise has gained a cult following and enjoys a slew of straight to video sequels.
The original Tremors dealt with an attack on a small American town of Perfection. The attack in question came from creatures never seen on earth before, large underground worms that attained the nickname of Graboids.
Tremors is very much a light-hearted action comedy film in the B movie mould that thankfully never tries to explain where these strange creatures come from.
Tremors 2: Aftershocks saw Fred Ward tackle the creatures on his own in Mexico where its discovered that the Graboids have the second stage in their life cycle that makes them no less dangerous than before.
Tremors 3: Back To Perfection has survivalist Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) take the lead from this point onwards expanding on his role since the original. The creatures have evolved yet again into a form that can take to the sky known as “ass-blasters”.
Tremors 4: The Legend Begins went in a completely different direction as served as a prequel to the original film set in 1889.
Finally, Tremors 5: Bloodlines took the action to South Africa where Burt Gummer, who now has his own survival show, is joined by his cameraman Travis Welker (Jaime Kennedy). I found this entry in the franchise rather lacking and you can read why in my review.
Apparently, you can’t keep a Graboid down! Universal Pictures obviously pleased with the sales numbers, greenlit the sixth film and we have the first trailer right here.
Tremors 6: A Cold Day In Hell sees Burt and Travis travelling to the Arctic where Graboids have been sighted once again. I suppose it makes a change from running around in hot sandy environments in every film!
Tremors 6: A Cold Day In Hell will debut on in the US on DVD, Bluray and Digital HD on the 1st of May.
Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) and his son Travis Welker (Jamie Kennedy) find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Ass-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the arctic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponised, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!
