The Mandalorian drops onto Disney+ this November and reminds us that there’s more to Star Wars than ‘The Rise of the Skywalker’.
Most Star Wars fans are waiting for ‘The Rise of the Skywalker‘ to hit cinemas this December. The long-running saga that began more than 42 years ago is near it’s conclusion, and we’re all keeping our fingers crossed that J.J. Abrams hasn’t screwed it up (Game of Thrones, we’re looking at you!).
Before then, ‘The Mandalorian’ will launch on Disney+, the new streaming service from the house of mouse. Developed by Jon Favreau, the series is the first to be set in a galaxy far, far away for television and focuses on the adventures of a notorious bounty hunter.
With a subtle western flavour, the look of ‘The Mandalorian’ is very much in-keeping with the classic Star Wars aesthetic of the original trilogy. That’s a thumbs up from me.
Werner Herzog looks to be a shrewd bit of casting. The veteran actor is listed as appearing in only one episode of the series on IMDB, but dominates this second trailer where he exudes the perfect blend of calm composure with a sneer of villainy and contempt. Pedro Pascal stars as the titular character.
‘The Mandalorian’ will be available to stream on Disney+ from November 12th.
