The Scribes featuring Leon Rhymes (Too Many T’s) – Righteous | Video

The Scribes team up with Leon Rhymes to preach to the masses with ‘Righteous’, the first single from the group’s forthcoming new album.

Two of our favourite forces in UK Hip-Hop come together for a new single and video. Bristol based trio, The Scribes, have enlisted the help of Leon Rhymes – one half of Too Many T’s. An act I have a long standing affinity with.

‘Righteous’ is the first single from The Scribes’ forthcoming new album, ‘Quill Equipped Villainy’. Filmed in and around Bristol City centre the visual for the track finds each of the emcees representing differing depictions of righteousness.

As described by the group: “A shamanic medicine man wandering the woods and healing the infirm, a door-to-door preacher sharing the gospel of hip hop, a voodoo witch doctor exorcising demons, and a vicar presiding over a wedding ceremony with an unusual amount of swagger.

Produced by Astro Snare, the track is presented as: “an homage to Golden Age hip hop with rumbling subs, booming breaks and choppy vocal cuts and stabs providing a classic backdrop for the lyricist’s intricate wordplay and flawless flows.” The track is pitched as being indicative of what to expect from the new album.

The video was directed and edited by Chris Lucas and is sponsored by clothing company THTC. Get all the links to purchase ‘Righteous’ here.

The Scribes are certainly raising expectation for their new 12 track LP boasting that, alongside artists that represent the best in contemporary U.K and U.S hip-hop, the album will also feature guest vocals from Akil The MC of Jurassic 5.

About The Scribes | The Scribes are one of the most talented up and coming artists on the scene and are hotly tipped to “step up to the big league at any time”, their genuinely unique sound is something you really have to hear for yourself, with appeal ranging far beyond the traditional hip hop fare, and is backed up by live performances proven to move any crowd.
