This International Venom Poster Achieves Something The Trailers Can’t

From the Japan twitter account comes this badass poster for ‘Venom’, the forthcoming Sony Pictures film based on the Marvel villain.

Yesterday we reported on the new, second trailer for ‘Venom’, the film based on the alien symbiote of the same name. The film stars Tom Hardy and promises to be a dark and violent treatment of the character from Marvel comics.

Today we present a poster for the film which appeared on the Japan twitter account for the film. It’s our first really good look at the hideous alien form of the symbiote.

Surprisingly this poster alone achieves something that neither of the two trailers for the film have been able to. It actually makes the film look appealing.

Venom International Trailer

Both trailers for ‘Venom’ have drawn criticism from fans with both presenting the film as something of a nonsensical shambles.

The story follows that of Eddie Brock, played by Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), as an inquisitive journalist who acquires the powers of a symbiotic alien. As host to the creature he must learn to embrace his dark side in order to preserve his own life.

‘Venom’ is the next superhero outing from Sony Pictures in association with Marvel Studios. Their recent collaboration on ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ proved to be a success. Whilst ‘Homecoming’ had clear ties to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), ‘Venom’ is a purely standalone film utilising a villain from Spider-Man lore.

Venom is heading to cinemas in the UK and US from October 5th. Other regions should check release dates at IMDB.
