ThunderCats Reinvented With New Cartoon Network Show | ThunderCats Roar

ThunderCats return with Lion-ohhh-my-god, what the fuck is this?!!! Burn it! Burn it with fire!!! Oh, the humanity…

No, no, no, no, no, no!!!! Thundercats are being reinvented by Cartoon Network with another classic example of how to destroy a classic kids television show.

ThunderCats premiered on television in 1985. With the demise of the planet of Thundera, the alien humanoid cats flee with their people, but an attack forced them to seek refuge on Third Earth. Frequent clashes with the show’s antagonist, Mumra, result in an action packed western style animation with roots firmly planted in Japanese anime.

A reboot in 2011 took visual cues from the original and ran for 52 episodes on Cartoon Network before it was cancelled. Re-runs played on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming schedule.

Seemingly aimed at a young audience, with cutesy animation and a comedy approach, ThunderCats Roar has divided opinion.

Whilst I realise I’m a stick in the mud and too old now to give a ballsy re-imagining a fair shake, I also want every copy of this thing to be destroyed before it can ever air. KILL IT!
