TNT Teases Snowpiercer With Animated Introduction

The TNT network releases the animated introduction for their new television series Snowpiercer.

Snowpiercer is a 2013 Korean film directed by Joon-ho Bong. Starring an impressive cast including Chris Evans, Ed Harris, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton and Jamie Bell, the film revolves around a train where the last of humanity now survive.

The premise is that the world’s scientists tried to avert the climate crisis with the use of geo-engineering. Unfortunately, this didn’t go to plan and the world is plunged into a new ice age.

The survivors have been living on a perpetually powered train for years where the rich live a life of decadence upfront whilst the poor are relegated to the rear carriages.

It is a great film which I highly recommend and can be found on Netflix and unbelievably, still has no physical release in the UK six years later!

RELATED |   It's 2019, of course there's a Space Invaders movie in development

The TNT network has adapted the film into a new television series. The train has been made much longer to accommodate more survivors which will allow for more stories. You can read all about that and see the trailer here.

At this weekend’s New York Comic Con TNT released what looks to be the animated opening to the first episode explaining the setup.

Snowpiercer will air in the second quarter of 2020 on the TNT Network in the US where it has already been given the green light for a second season. The rest of us will be able to follow on Netflix.
