UKFilmNerd’s Shorts | The Invasion

Finnish director Vesa Manninen creates a test film to show you his vision of The Invasion

Here at The Unheard Nerd, we welcome all kinds of media. In this semi-regular feature, I will share with you some of the excellent short films hiding away on the internet.

Vesa Manninen grew up loving film and made countless visits to his local picture house. After Finnish film school, his passion grew further with short films as well as music videos and commercials.

His talents were noticed throughout Europe and the US. He has been hired to film commercials for Subway, Nintendo, Ikea, McDonald’s and Nokia and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

One of Vesa’s ambitions is to create a science fiction action film. To help him in this quest he has created a short teaser film to generate interest for the project and to give a glimpse of what he is hoping to achieve.

Vesa contacted the talented practical effects guys over at StudioADI to help with the alien creature effects. Shot on the Universal backlot, which you may recognize from the 2005 Tom Cruise film War of the Worlds, this short test footage is certainly very impressive.

We here at The Unheard Nerd, as always, will keep our eyes on this project for any further news.

I have included a clearer look at the alien suit built for this short film.
