UKFilmNerd’s Shorts | Pixels

Here at The Unheard Nerd we welcome all kinds of media and will gladly share our findings from the net with you the reader. As your probably already aware, I love film and in a semi regular feature I will share with you some of the excellent short films hiding away on the internet.

Pixels is a short film written and directed by Patrick Jean. The film was shot on location in New York City explores the possibility of what could happen if 8 bit game characters broke free into our world.

Personally, I fell in love with the opening shot of the production company logo which mimics that of a long defunct software house from the 1980’s called Ocean. That alone brings back many happy ZX Spectrum gaming memories for me.

The film won the Annecy Crystal for Best Short Film at the 2011 Annecy International Animated Film Festival and was picked up by Adam Sandler’s production company to be developed into a full length feature film but nothing has been heard since.
