Chiptune playing teenage orphans. We Are Little Zombies appears to be, by all accounts, absolutely bat-shit crazy!
Since winning the Grand Jury prize for short film at the 2017 Sundance festival, director Makoto Nagahisa has been busy creating ‘We Are Little Zombies’. A crazy blend of tragedy, music, social commentary and comedy.
Four recently orphaned teenagers should be devastated by the loss of their families. Instead they are devoid of all emotion. With no family, aspirations or dreams the teens do the most logical thing. Grab a GameBoy, bass guitar, keyboard and drums. All the tools necessary to start a band and embark on world domination.
‘We Are Little Zombies’ is stylistic in a way that’s reminiscent of ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’ – Hyperactive and crazy. No date is confirmed, but a cinematic release is expected in 2020. ‘We Are Little Zombies’ is presented in Japanese language with English subtitles.
To help promote the film there is also a digital colouring book available. If digital colouring isn’t you thing you can print the pages and colour the old fashioned way. With spray paint… maybe not. It just seems fitting.
