Welcome To PlayStation 5 – Here’s What Was Revealed

Sony live-streamed an hour-long event that culminated in the reveal of the PlayStation 5 console.

As you’ve probably already guessed from the headline picture, Sony has unveiled the PlayStation 5 and various accessories. However, we do not yet have a release date or pricing structure.

As you can see, much like the current Microsoft Xbox One, two versions will be available, either with or without an Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray drive.

Accessory options include a DualSense Charging Station for two controllers, a new HD camera to sit above or below your television, Pulse3D wireless headset and a new media remote.

So without further ado, here’s the video revealing the hardware.

Here are some more specifics and reveals of the new DualSense controller.

Now we come to the good stuff, the game reveals. I’m in my mid 40s (God that feels strange to write), so my generation of video game players have grown up with companies using beautiful pre-rendered cinematics to reveal their latest games. It has not been uncommon to be disappointed when the final gameplay footage was finally revealed.

With the launch of these next generation machines, I believe it is harder to determine what is gameplay and what is presentation.

But even saying that, I’m impressed and there are several games I know my children will love. There’s one game where you can play as a cat in a robot occupied Earth, I’m sure that’s been created with my youngest son in mind.

Enough waffling! The games! (In no particular order)

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online

Project Athia

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Destruction AllStars

Sackboy A Big adventure

Oddworld Soulstorm

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Goodbye Volcano High

GhostWire: Tokyo

JETT: The Far Shore

NBA 2K21

Gran Turismo 7

Solar Ash

Demon’s Souls

Resident Evil VIII – Village

Little Devil Inside

Horizon Forbidden West

Astro’s Playroom

There you have it! Plenty to chew on for a while. Some familiar faces, new IP’s and even a remake. Quite a broad range of gaming. As always, we’ll keep you updated as to when Sony reveal pricing and a release date.
